Republicans want to hear ideas from the public. GOP leaders have posted a website titled "America Speaking Out" and they're encouraging people to offer suggestions and policy proposals. House Minority Leader John Boehner [[ BAY-nur ]] said the effort, quote, "has to do with listening to the American people and addressing their concerns today." Republicans are hoping to glean ideas from the site then use them to develop legislative priorities for Congress by September, two months before the November 2nd elections.

Democrats are suspicious about GOP claims that the website isn't political. Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic National Committee calls it "the biggest joke" he's ever heard. Republicans hope to take advantage of voter frustration with Washington by acting on input. Representative Candice Miller, a Republican from Macomb County, Michigan said the number one thing she hears from voters over and over is "Why isn't Washington listening to us?"
