Rally To Save Monterey Shock

03.12.14 | Bob Price

Supporters of the Monterey Shock incarceration camp protested in Albany yesterday. They were joined by hundreds of others at the State Capital for a rally to save four juvenile detention facilities.  Monterey Shock, near Watkins Glen, is set to shut down this summer and that could mean the elimination of over 100 jobs, plus the end of a successful rehabilitation program in the Southern Tier.  Protestors argued Governor Cuomo has misplaced priorities when he says there’s not enough money to keep Monterey shock open ...but at the same time ...floats a plan to use taxpayer dollars to offer college courses to felons in prison.
