Rally For Royalties Planned In Towanda

02.10.14 | Bob Price

Bradford County Commissioners are inviting landowners in the county to a rally on the steps of the courthouse in Towanda. The rally is to show support for State House Bill #1684 to protect the gas royalty interests of landowners. The commissioners say a few gas companies are reducing royalty checks below the 12.5% minimum of the value of the gas that was promised by industry landmen and guaranteed by the state until it was overturned inthe 2010 Kilmer vs. Elexco court case. They're doing that by deducting post production costs from those checks like the cost of transporting gas. The commissioners call it unfair and say it's costing the county and state millions of dollars. The rally is scheduled for Friday, February 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda.
