(Seoul)  --  President Obama has urged North Korea to cooperate with the international community over its nuclear program.  By not doing so, Mr. Obama warned, Pyongyang runs the risk of making the lives of its people even harsher.  Speaking to U.S. troops in South Korea Thursday during a Veterans Day ceremony, president Obama said, "North Korea's continued pursuit of nuclear weapons will only lead to more isolation and less security."

Mr. Obama warned Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program, coupled with the alleged sinking of a South Korean navy ship, mark a path of confrontation and provocation.  "In the wake of this aggression," Mr. Obama said, "Pyongyang should not be mistaken: the United States will never waver in our commitment to the security of the Republic of Korea."
