The Obama administration is resisting calls to keep open the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Critics say the botched bombing of a Northwest Airlines jet last week proves the President should keep the controversial prison open. But administration officials said that any delay in shutting it down would only help al Qaeda recruit new terror trainees. No one in the administration has revisited the President's plan to close the facility by 2011. The administration has been assuring worried lawmakers that prisoners will be transferred carefully to other countries. They're hoping to avoid having any of the dozens of Yemeni detainees wind up back in their home country, which has become a hotbed of jihadism.
