(Chicago, IL)  --  President Obama will attend a Memorial Day service today at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.  The First Family has been in Chicago for four days at the Obamas' Kenwood home, and will return to Washington, DC later today.  Vice President Joe Biden will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC to commemorate the holiday.

Some veterans view the President's decision to skip the services at Arlington National Cemetery as a disrespect to soldiers who continue to fight wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  A section of Arlington Cemetery is dedicated to soldiers who have died in both wars.  Mr. Obama spoke at last year's ceremony, as have most presidents in the past.

Mr. Obama is not the first President to skip the Arlington ceremony.  Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have attended other services during past Memorial Days.
