Pork Spending In Pa Transportation Bill

11.26.13 | Bob Price

Good-government groups in Pennsylvania are concerned about pork spending contained in the nearly 2-and-a-half billion dollar transportation bill. The historic infrastructure improvement effort funnels 40 million dollars next year to a state agency controlled by legislative leaders.  Groups like Common Cause of Pennsylvania are worried this so-called “walking around money” will reward lawmakers with pet projects in certain districts.  Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, who voted against the bill, says he knows of a couple lawmakers who were told they’d receive funding if they voted for the transportation bill.  Governor Corbett signed the measure yesterday.
