Poll Shows Americans Need To Brush Up On Their History

Four in ten americans don't know the year we declared our independence -- 1776. Teacher Paul Giana says these Marist poll results are embarrassing. "I'm an educator, so I get why we don't know it... bceause it's not a focus anymore. It's a little disappointing, actually. It's kind of our responsibly to have a stronger sense of history and I think we do a poor job of passing it on to the next generation."

The poll also showed that 3 in 10 Americans don't even know what country we declared our independence from.
