A new poll finds New Yorkers have mixed feelings when it comes to Governor David Paterson's job of filling the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton. A Sienna College poll finds that 33-percent of voters thought he a did a fair job filling the seat, while 29-percent thought it was poor. Only 27-percent said the process was good and 6-percent rated it as excellent.

Upstate residents seem to be more accepting of Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand. Downstate residents are more skeptical of the pick, as are some Democratic leaders.

The governor has also been criticized ever since an anonymous source leaked unsubstantiated personal accusations about Caroline Kennedy after she abruptly quit the contest.
