350 people packed an auditorium at Genesee Community College in Batavia New York last night to vent their frustrations about the SAFE Act. They listened to a panel of politicians and law enforcement officers who calmed the crowd. Police promised not to search people's homes for banned guns, but they did take issue with some parts of the law, including the mental health provisions. They also said they're also having a hard time keeping up with opt-out provisions of the law. Permit requests are so high in Genessee County that the clerk says they will blow through their entire annual budget by August just to staff the office to keep up with paperwork.
