The Pentagon is in the market for a vehicle that can seat four comfortably, handle like an SUV and soar at an altitude of ten-thousand feet. According to tech website CNET.com, the Pentagon's experimental technology branch, DARPA, is soliciting researchers for the project. The guidelines include a mandatory vertical takeoff feature and the vehicle must be able to fly at ten-thousand feet. DARPA also wants the vehicle to traverse the ground like an SUV, with four wheels and suspension. Once companies submit their bids, DARPA will narrow down the candidates and ask them to build a prototype. The flying car is expected to cost around 54-million dollars. The vehicle would be used by the military for counterinsurgency and rescue operations.
