(Washington D.C.)  --  Repealing the controversial Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy is the "right thing to do."  The Pentagon's top uniformed officer, Admiral Michael Mullen, made that statement in a Senate hearing.  The controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy prohibits gays and lesbians from openly serving in the U.S. armed forces.  President Obama has asked the long-standing policy be repealed.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he has ordered a full review on how to best carry out a repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  Gates said he is determined to "get this right" and noted the exhaustive review could run for one year.
