An evangelical pastor from Atlanta has withdrawn from giving the benediction at President Obama's inauguration. Reverend Louie Giglio, said if he participated, some would make the gay rights agenda a focal point of the swearing in ceremony. Giglio was recorded in a sermon saying "homosexuality is sin. It is sin in the eyes of God." Mark Tooley, President of the Institute on Religion and Democracy the withdrawal sends a dangerous statement. He said "the implication is that any clergyman who upholds a traditional believes about marriage and sexual ethics is by definition unacceptable in this kind of civic and public role."

Giglio pastors the Passion City Church in Atlanta. He was selected for the benediction because of the work he has done to raise awareness about human trafficking.
