Partial Eclipse Of Blue Moon On New Years Eve

There'll be a partial eclipse of the moon on New Year's Eve that we won't be able to see. It'll actually be a blue moon. The nickname "blue moon" is applied when there's a second full moon in the same month. Folks in North and South America won't be able to see it when the moon crosses the edge of earth's shadow Friday night. But the viewing will be good over Europe, Africa and Asia. While it's only a partial eclipse, the moon should still appear at least somewhat shaded and reddish to stargazers in those parts of the world.
