(Harrisburg, PA)  --  The state Senate has narrowly failed to override Governor Ed Rendell's veto of parts of their budget.  The Senate vote on Wednesday was 30-to-19, three votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed to override it.

Earlier in the day, Democratic Senator Sean Logal called the attempt a waste of time.  But Republican Senator Jane Orie says Democrats were wrong by saying the veto overrides are a waste of time, especially with rape crisis centers and domestic violence programs in jeopardy.

The only Democrat to cross party lines was Senator Lisa Boscola of Northampton County.
