Republican state Senate leaders are telling Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell that he should seek their input on how to spend Pennsylvania's share of federal economic stimulus money.

In the letter sent this week, the senators said they realize some of the stimulus money is directed toward specific projects and cannot be changed. However, Senators Joseph Scarnati of Jefferson County, Dominic Pileggi of Delaware County and Jake Corman of Centre County say it is the Legislature's duty to set spending priorities for each federal grant.

Earlier this month, Rendell said his administration has very little say over how the money is used. Pennsylvania is set to receive $10 billion directly from the federal government over the next three years.
