Pa Lawmakers Discuss Bill That Bans Teacher Strikes

Legislation that would ban teacher strikes in Pennsylvania was the topic at a press conference on Wednesday in Harrisburg. Several House Republicans voiced their support for House Bill 1369, which would protect each child's right to an uninterrupted public education. Rep. Todd Rock, prime sponsor of the bill, said that students and parents are the ones who suffer when teachers choose to strike.

Approximately 22 Pennsylvania public school districts are at risk for an immediate teachers strike due to expired contracts; and an additional 126 public school districts facing the possibility of a strike before the end of 2009,
