Pa Is 2nd Most Generous State For Unemployed

Pennsylvania is the 2nd most generous state in the nation for the unemployed. Only Rhode Island offers better jobless benefits to the unemployed. Coincidently, new figures from the National Journal show Rhode Island has the highest unemployment rate in the country, at 9 percent.  Pennsylvania pays 54 percent of the lost income for fired workers - that averages out to about 357 dollars in weekly unemployment benefits.  Pundits say it’s surprising that Pennsylvania is so generous to the unemployed because the cost of living tends to be much lower in the Keystone State than in other states that are more stingy with jobless aid.
