Just 19 out of every hundred kids who graduate from high school go on to earn an Associates degree or a Bachelors's degree in college. Suny Chancellor Nancy Zimpher says Suny will reduce the number of students who fall through the cracks before their college graduation by increasing intervention programs at the early stages of education. She also says the university system will reform its teacher preparation programs to provide more qualified teachers. At an assembly hearing in albany, Zimpher said getting more students through college is essential to the economic future of New York state.
