One out of every four music sales in the U.S. is done through the iTunes store.  That's not just digital recordings, reports online business magazine "Seeking Alpha."  Apple now dominates fully one quarter of the American music market as CD sales deteriorate.

Digital downloads now make up 35-percent of the music market, which has Apple singing a happy iTune.  It crushed the competition with a whopping 69-percent of all digital music sales in the first half of this year.  Amazon.com came in second with eight-percent of digital sales.

With 25-percent of the total market wrapped up, Apple is also far ahead of its chief rival, Walmart.  The retailing giant accounts for 14-percent of total U.S. music sales.
