(Washington, DC)  --  In what could be the most important speech of his young presidency, Barack Obama will try to clarify his position on the national healthcare debate tonight.  Obama will speak to a joint session of Congress and the American people in a high-stakes address that begins at 8:00pm, Eastern time.

The President is expected to press his case for aggressive reforms by arguing that the U.S. healthcare system is broken and draining the national economy.  Conservatives have attacked Democratic proposals for a government option to compete against private health insurers, calling it part of a wider move to nationalize U.S. healthcare.
