Nys Minimum Wage Hike In Jeopardy

New York's minimum wage may not pass after all. It seemed to be almost a sure thing a few weeks ago, but lawmakers return from recess on Tuesday, and suddenly, favor is swinging against a hike. Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos said it's a matter of fairness for employers, too, and he doesn't want small businesses shutting down. He also said the wage is tied to the federal government; what they set will affect New York, especially if our pay is lower. The bill will likely pass the Assembly, but in the Senate, it needs 32 votes to pass, and it appears there are only 27.
