New York State Senator Charles Fuschillo is calling on Governor Paterson to eliminate his proposal to raise gas taxes and increase fees for other driving related expenses. Fuschillo says Governor Paterson is proposing to eliminate the state sales tax cap on a gallon of gasoline. Currently, only the first two-dollars-per gallon of gas is subject to state sales tax.

Fuschillo says removing this cap means that drivers will pay more in sales taxes as the price per gallon increases. Fuschillo is also calling on the governor to throw out his proposed 25-percent increase in the fees for driver's licenses and vehicle registrations, saying the tax will further burden consumers.
