Ny Landowners Would See A 15 Percent Income Spike If High Volume Hydrofracking Is Approved

A new report shows exactly how much cash families in New York would make on average if high-volume hydrofracking was approved. The report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy found each family that allows drilling would see, on average, a 15-percent spike in their income by 2015. That's 8 billion dollars in overall income across the 28 New York counties that sit atop the shale.  A decision on whether to allow high-volume fracking rests with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration and awaits the completion of a review by state Health Commissioner Nirav Shah. Opponents to fracking say it simply isn't safe.
