The Rochester Institute of Technology has designed software that will tell you when your car is breaking down. The company V-nomics, tucked away in a business park near R.I.T.,  just patented technology to track a vehicle's performance. The software was designed by R.I.T. researchers, and will warn you of impending breakdowns. It also reports in real time how to save fuel and minimize repair costs by fixing small things that are wearing down before big things break. The sensors work using dashboard displays and wireless links. It's now being installed on 10-thousand marine corps vehicles. They hope to bring the software to the general public soon.
