A brand new national school food plan was signed into law Monday. It affects farmers nearly as much as it affects kids. the bill, backed by New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will rid schools of junk food, issue proper alerts to schools when contaminations occur, guarantee all foster children access to school meals and connect farms to schools to supply them with fresh local produce.  Gillibrand says the new legislation will allow schools to make common sense changes to improve nutrition for all students.
