Northern Lights Could Make Appearance Tonight

Residents in America's northernmost states are preparing for a terrific light show.  Skywatchers say the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, could be visible across portions of Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine tonight.  That's because a large emission of plasma from the sun crashed into the Earth's magnetic field on Tuesday afternoon.  Those who wish to see the bursts of red and green lights are advised to peer north just above the horizon.  Scientists add that the Aurora Borealis could have some effect on GPS systems and electrical grids in the planet's polar regions.
