New York Schools Set To Compete For Grant Based On Student Performance

New York public schools are now able to apply for grants based on student performance. Some 75-million dollars is available over the next 3 years, and the state's 700 districts have to compete for them. They have until January 17th to apply and make a case that their school is worthy of a grant. The competitive grants were part of Governor Andrew Cuomo's budget proposal last January. Normally, grants are based on the number of kids in a district, not the number of kids with the best grades.
