New York Pennsylvania Post Offices To Stay Open A Few Extra Months

There are hundreds of post office closings slated for New York and Pennsylvania because of the postal service's lack of cash. But they may not be closing soon. Originally, we were told the offices would start shutting down in March-- 37-hundred nationally, and another 250 processessing facilities-- including ones in Buffalo, Binghamton, and Reading. But on Tuesday, Congress and the U.S.P.S. agreed to a moratorium on closing any post office or postal facility until May 15th, 2012. The first offices were supposed to start closing in March. Congress said they needed time to draw up legislation overhauling the nation's entire mail delivery system.
