New York Is Cutting The Sports Season In Schools Across The State

It's a dilemma just about every high school faces at some point-- do we cut sports teams-- or cut the sports season-- to save cash? The New York State Public High School Athletic Association made the choice Tuesday. They went with cutting the season. Cuts vary by sport: baseball teams in the state that play 24 regular-season games will go to 20.... football teams will go from 10 games to 9 or 8... depending on regional officials.  Officials say the shorter schedules allow schools to cut budgets without cutting programs. Critics say the new policy unfairly targets student athletes.  Supporters say the cuts can save up to 10 million-dollars a year among the state's 776 schools.
