New York Gets A New Governor Before The Inauguration

12.31.10 | Sarah Harnisch

New York is getting a brand new governor... but there's something you may not know about Andrew Cuomo's swearing in ceremony. Cuomo will become the states' 56th governor at a private swearing-in at the executive mansion. What some don't know, though-- is that it isn't happening tomorrow. It's happening tonight-- on New Year's Eve. Then there will be a small inauguration ceremony in the governor’s reception room in the state capitol on New Year's Day at noon-- and a public receiving line from 2:30 till 4:30 p.m. at the executive mansion Saturday. But by the time we see him over the weekend-- legally-- he'll already be the next governor of New York.
