New York has the worst drivers in the nation, at least when it comes to the rules of the road. That is according to G-MAC Insurance, which just released its fifth annual study of state driving test results. New York ranked dead last in the U.S. with an average score of 70.5-percent.

It is the second time in five years the state ranked at the very bottom. New Jersey is next to last. Idaho and Wisconsin tied for first, with an average score of 80.6-percent.

The survey is not exactly reassuring, with a finding that the number of drivers with knowledge of basic road rules is decreasing. The average test score nationwide dropped from 78.1 to 76.6-percent.
