New York Dems Talking Minimum Wage Again
02.13.13 |
Democrats in the state Legislature on Tuesday renewed calls for increasing the minimum wage. The Independent Democratic Conference and the Senate Democrats pushed for a wage hike in separate news conferences Tuesday. Senator Jeffrey Klein co-sponsored a bill with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to raise the wage from $7.25 to $8.50. Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal included a hike to $8.75. And democrats in both chambers have introduced bills advocating hourly wages rise anywhere from 8-50 to 11-15 an hour. Lots of press conferences and lots of talk about the hike-- but as of yet, no action.
