New Quarters To Feature National Parks Monuments

Next month, the U.S. Mint will begin rolling out a new series of quarters to highlight America's national parks and wildlife sites. Mint Director Ed Moy says the first five will be released this year. The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Mount Hood in Oregon will be featured in the first quarters of the collection. Moy says the new quarters are inspired by the success of the 50-state program, which turned 147-million Americans into coin collectors. The mint worked with state and federal leaders to determine which parks would make it on the back of the coins. The quarters will go into general circulation, but collectors can also get coins directly from the United States Mint.
