New Pa Law Would Restrict Abortion Coverage

The Pennsylvania Senate has advanced a bill to limit abortion coverage in the Keystone state. Currently, federal law restricts taxpayer funding for abortion coverage, but this bill will go farther by restricting abortion coverage in private policies, too. The Pennsylvania Senate voted 37 to 12 on Tuesday to send the bill to the House. The Senate says the bill is necessary, so insurance companies can comply with President Obama's new healthcare law which is set to kick in in 2014. A number of states are considering adopting identical or similar bills.
