It appears working out is not a high priority for almost half of the U.S. adult population. According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, 49-percent of those surveyed said they exercise less than three days per week. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines suggest adults should be doing at least five 30-minute workouts at moderate intensity each week.

Only 27-percent admitted to previous the guideline, while 24-percent exercise three-to-four days per week. The poll also found that exercising has an increasing effect on a person's happiness and energy, except for those who work out seven days a week.
