Nearly 13 Of World Population Expected To Have Internet Access In 2010

(Geneva)  --  Nearly a third of the world's population is expected to have access to the Internet this year.  The UN's International Telecommunication Union predicts the number of Internet users in 2010 will surpass two-billion.

The organization says there will be 226-million new Internet users this year, more than half of them from developing countries.  Europe has the highest penetration of Internet access.  About 65 percent of the people there are online.  Around 55 percent of people in the Americas have Internet access.  Access in Africa is approaching ten percent.
