NASA's hopes of going to Mars received a major financial lift-off Tuesday with news President Obama will increase the space agency's budget to the tune of six-billion dollars over five years. Along with the money, comes a projected creation of 25-hundred new jobs in Florida. The funding announcement is expected to come Thursday. A senior White House official said the new thrust means "more money for NASA, more jobs for the country, more astronaut time in space and more investments in innovation." It is the President's hope to see development of a new heavy-lift rocket as part of a plan that will allow space engineers to make a scaled-down version of a space capsule that was scheduled to have been canceled.
