NASA's jet propulsion labaratory is being sued by a computer scientist who says he was laid off for promoting intelligent design. David Coppedge worked as a team lead on the Cassini mission, exploring Saturn and its moons. He lost his title in 2009, and was fired last year. Coppedge's lawyer says he was an Evangelical Christian. He says "Mr. Coppedge has always maintained that intelligent design is a scientific theory. The JPL has illegally discriminated against him." NASA says Coppedge was demoted due to planned budget cuts and conflicts with other scientists.
