More Than 120 Thousand Cooktops Recalled For Fire Hazard

10.22.10 | FL News Team

Fire hazard is being blamed for a mass recall of 122-thousand Frigidaire and Electrolux ICON cooktops.  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says liquids can pool under the control knobs, causing the heating element to turn on unexpectedly and heat to higher temperatures than expected.  The problem poses a burn risk to consumers, as well as a fire hazard.  The recall involves Frigigaire and Electrolux ICON smoothtop electric cooktops and Frigidaire slide-in ranges with rotary knobs and digital displays.

You can call Electrolux for a free repair kit at (888) 281-5310 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. You can also visit the company’s website at www.smoothtoprangerecall.com (Frigidaire) or www.cooktoprecall.com (Electrolux).
