Monterey Shock To Graduate Final Class Thursday

On Thursday, the Monterey Shock Incarceration Facility in Schuyler County will graduate its final class of inmates.

In July of last year, the Cuomo administration unveiled a plan to shutdown the facility due to downsizing and consolidation.

There is still an ongoing effort today in the Southern Tier and in Albany to keep Monterey open.

However, some local and state lawmakers were discouraged this week when Governor Cuomo released his budget.

The budget proposal did not include a turnaround of the state's plan to close down the facility.
