The New York State Senate passed legislation to legalize and regulate Mixed Martial Arts competitions in the Empire State. The sport has the fastest growing fan base of any in the world. In America, 47 states allow it, including Pennsylvania. Senator Joseph Griffo of Rome, New York said it would be a tremendous boost to jobs, tourism and the econmy: 88 full time jobs per event. Those against it say the sport is dangerous and violent. The last 3 times the Senate has passed the bill, it has not even come up for a vote in the Assembly, and that may happen again this time.
