Minnesota Lawmaker Wants To Make Human Cloning Illegal

A Minnesota lawmaker introducted a bill Wednesday night that would make human cloning a felony in his state. In fact, the bill, introduced by Republican representative Bob Dettmer, would make even assisting in a lab procedure a serious crime. Former Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2009 signed a ban against using taxpayer money for human cloning procedures, but the practice is currently not illegal under Minnesota law. Right to life groups in Minnesota have said this is a bill about protecting life from replication, manipulation and destruction.
