The American soldier being held by Taliban militants in Afghanistan has been identified as Private Bowe Bergdahl of Ketchum, Idaho. Bergdahl is seen on video posted on the Internet talking about missing his family and worrying he will not make it home from the war.

The Defense Department says the soldier is a member of the 25th Infantry Division from Fort Richardson, Alaska. Two weeks ago, his status was changed from "whereabouts unknown" to "missing-captured."

The Pentagon is condemning Taliban militants who released what they call a "propaganda" video of Bergdahl. A military official said the use of a soldier for propaganda purposes is a violation international law.

Bergdahl is believed to be the first taken by the Taliban since 2002. Leaflets have been handed out in the area in hopes tips will lead to his whereabouts or release.
