Millennium Pipeline Corporation LLC on May 9 sent letters to officials in municipalities along its path- Union, Maine, Nanticoke and Lisle in northern Broome County- notifying them of the preliminary plans: a 60-mile extension pipeline from the Town of Union to Syracuse. The current Millennium Pipeline runs nearly 200 miles along the New York-Pennsylvania border, shuttling natural gas from Pennsylvania’s swath of the Marcellus Shale eastward to major metropolitan markets. The gas company says it would give each town special access, and school districts and homeowners would save money.
