Litter Or Literature Pro Life Pamphlets Under Fire In Pa

A federal judge in Pennsylvania must decide if pro-life leaflets are litter or literature-- protected by the First Amendment. The judge, out of Pittsburgh, last month temporarily halted enforcement of a city ordinance that bans leafletting of parked cars. It's because the leaflets being left talked about the dangers of abortion. On Tuesday, he was asked to prolong the ban while 2 pro-life activists challenge the ordinance in a trial. City attorneys say the ordinance should stand because the leafletts are littering the town. But attorneys for the activists say it curbs free speech. The ruling will come down in about a month.
