Call it the childless generation: a record 1 in every 5 middle aged women are paying the ultimate price for putting career before family. Childlessness has reached record levels among a generation of women born in the 60's. Official figures released today show 20 percent of all women over the age of 46 have not had kids. The figures come from the Office for National Statistics. The 20 percent childlessness rate has been matched only by women born in 1920, who were teenagers during the Depression of the thirties and reached adulthood during World War Two.
