Just Over Half Of The World Believes In 1 God
04.27.11 |
Barely half of the world's population believes in God. Those are the results of a global survey-- released Tuesday. 18-thousand people in 23 countries were polled by the Ipsos Social Research Institute-- and among them, just 51-percent said they believed in God. 18-percent didn't and 17-percent were undecided. Of every 4 people, 2 believe in an afterlife, one does not, and one simply doesn't know what will happen to them. According to the survey, "definitive belief in a God or Supreme Being" is highest in Indonesia (93-percent) and Turkey (91-percent), followed by Brazil, South Africa and Mexico. Those most likely to believe in "many Gods" live in India, China, and Russia. People who don't believe in God at all are most likely to live in France, Sweden, Belgium, Great Britain, Japan and Germany. The U.S. fell in the middle in the poll.
