Its Time To Go Leaf Scouting In New York State

09.29.11 | Sarah Harnisch

New York State is out with it's 2011 fall foliage update. What towns are near their peak colors? Foliage change in Central New York and the Fingerlakes is still in the beginning stages. In Broome County, Tioga County, Cortland and Chenango Counties, foliage spotters are calling for 25 percent change, with bright yellow, red and orange leaves. Rochester is just starting to show shades of red-- Steuben-- yellow and orange. Cayuga-- gold and red. The state has professional "leaf inspectors" set up in every region that submit reports and color totals-- and they've put together an entire map-- so you can check out your area of the state and see how it compares. If you want to see if for yourself, go here.
