Is Gay Marriage Paying Off In New York

01.26.12 | Bob Price

When gay marriage became law on July 24th - Cuomo promised over a hundred thousand couples would tie the knot and the result would be, a more than 2-hundred million dollar cottage industry in the Empire State.  But an independent analysis from Cuyler News Service in Albany finds less than five thousand gay couples have actually gotten married in the six months since the law was passed.
New York is the largest state to allow gay marriage, joining Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and the District of Columbia.  The issue will be decided in atleast a half dozen other states - this election year.
